Depression

Knowing you are being listened to is the first step to feeling better

Depression and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can all experience at some point in our lives.   Some people think depression is trivial and not a genuine health condition.  They are wrong - it is a real illness with real symptoms.  Depression is not a sign of weakness or something you can 'snap out of' or 'pull yourself together'.


Through counselling I work with you and support you to recover motivation, perspective and regain control of your life.   

 

Symptoms of depression include: 


  • Irritability
  • Persistant sad or anxious mood
  • Feelings of hopelessness
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities
  • Fatigue and decreased energy
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Appetite and/or weight changes
  • Thoughts of death or suicide or suicidal attempts
  • Self-harm


We will work together to help you learn different ways to cope with and overcome these difficult feelings.
